At 600 kilometers in length, Lake Baikal is one of the cleanest lakes on earth. Its deepest and darkest beauty has been captured by professional photographer Kristina Makeeva of Moscow. Baikal is the biggest reservoir of fresh water on earth, with a depth of 1,642 meters. The thickness of the frozen lake reaches 1.5-2 meters. The ice has different patterns in different parts of the lake because the water freezes layer by layer. People can see various objects such as fish, green stones and plants at a depth of 40 meters and turquoise-colored ice on its surface.
